Parents

AMS believes parents and families are the most important partners in the education of their students. AMS values parent participation in the school community and encourages parents to visit the school regularly, talk with the school staff about their child’s progress, and learn more about how to support their child throughout high school and into college.

Parents at AMS can offer their support by making sure that their children:

• Are in school and on time regularly,

• Are scheduled for at least 11 credits per year and that they keep track of their children’s progress in earning these credits,

• Strive to achieve grades of 80 or higher in all of their courses, and

• Take their required state exams and strive for a score of 75 or higher.

In addition to checking the website for announcements and information, parents can use New Visions’ online tools to check attendance, view assignments, monitor progress and stay in touch with teachers and staff.

PARENT SERVICE HOURS

Parents support the mission of AMS by completing at least 15 hours of service to the school annually. This service can be accomplished in several ways such as:

  • Attending PTA meetings
  • Chaperoning student activities
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of the school’s Annual Community Events
  • Helping the office staff with administrative tasks
