Community Partnerships

HUM believes students should have a deep understanding of their community – the issues, resources, and leaders that make the Bronx a rich and diverse place to live and learn. HUM students engage with the community regularly through curriculum and field work. We actively pursue opportunities for community organizations to become partners in the education of our students. Please contact Jennie Soler McIntosh, Director of Community Engagement, for more information.

Lincoln Center Institute

In partnership with the Lincoln Center Institute, students will work with teaching artists, attend performances, visit museums, and be involved with performing and visual arts. Teachers will also have access to the Institute’s vast resources.

With the end goal of helping students develop their imagination and creativity, Lincoln Center Institute has developed the Capacities for Imaginative Learning. Our teachers use Lincoln Center Institute’s methods to help students notice details, make connections, ask questions and think critically – skills that are necessary to compete in a 21st century economy.

Lincoln Center Institute works with close to 100 schools and 400,000 students, educators and professional teaching colleges around the world. They are a core partner to the New Visions Charter High Schools.
