School Partners
Partnering Schools with External Organizations
With support from the Charles S. Mott Foundation, New Visions fosters academically focused partnerships between New Visions’ schools and external organizations. This work, called the New Day Campaign for College and Career Readiness, enables students to gain important academic and workplace skills for success in college and the world of work.
New Visions works to support the following partnerships through financial and technical assistance:
- Lyons Community School offers a ninth-grade class with the Urban Memory Project to improve research, writing and presentation skills as students conduct research about local communities.
- World Academy for Total Community Health High School (WATCH) partners with SUNY Downstate Medical Center to give students direct workplace experience in the medical field, develop workforce skills and begin career planning.
- Bronx High School for Law and Community Service partners with four community-based organizations — Friends of Van Cortlandt Park, Mosholu Development Corporation, Norwood News and the Legal Aid Society — to provide seniors with a variety of robust internships in their communities.
