Open position: PSO network director
Position summary:
The network team leader manages an integrated team of instructional and business staff that serves 25-30 schools in a network. Network team leaders will serve in a managerial capacity with significant discretion and independent decision-making authority working closely with the principals in their network, being held accountable for the success of their schools in meeting their cumulative performance targets in all critical areas, as well as engendering high levels of principal satisfaction with the services and support they provide.
Network team leaders manage a network team of approximately seven to eight members of a Children’s First Network Support Team and five to seven instructional leadership development facilitators as well as other network assigned staff (e.g. program assistant, community support staff).
They will assist the schools in sourcing services from within the DOE and from third parties. Together, the network teams work closely to support affiliated principals, who will select the team and have significant input into their ratings.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Support to New Visions leadership and principals
- Network team leaders work closely with principals in the network. In addition, network team leaders partner with New Visionsl leadership to ensure coordinated support for network schools. Team leaders work together to ensure best practices in network support are utilized throughout New Visions’school support structure.
- Works with leadership development facilitators, other New Visions staff and principals to establish quantitative student achievement goals aligned to New Visions' organizational goals and supports and identifies key instructional strategies to meet these school instructional goals.
- Utilizes New Visions Salesforce.com platform and other data to coach and support leadership development facilitators and other staff to meet school instructional goals.
- Serves in a managerial capacity with significant discretion as an adviser to the New Visions management team and across networks in collaboration with other network leaders.
- Manages the integrated team of instructional and operations staff who serve the network principals.
- Leads team in capturing and disseminating knowledge to and from schools. This includes best practices at the school and support organization levels.
- Develops policies advancing a service-oriented culture to assist network principals and schools in improving student achievement and accelerating students’ learning and in attaining high levels of principal satisfaction with the services and support the network provides.
- Leads team in customization of positions, contracts and services to meet the needs of network principals and their respective schools
- Under the “train the trainer” model, leads team to act as a primary conveyor of essential expertise necessary to enable network principals to be successful, assisting in designing training and professional development.
- Ensures that proper resources, support and training are provided to the principals to build instructional and operational capacity at the school level.
- Identifies complex and systemic needs of schools in the network and arranges for the provision of services to meet those needs (from within or outside the network).
- Determines when to bring in additional resources and/or expertise from the system.
- Creates mechanism to capture and implement best practices across the team and across the initiative; tracks and follows up on implementation and performance.
Qualifications
Minimal
- B.A., M.A.
- Minimum four years successful experience as a public or private school principal and/or major management and policy experience at the central office level with at least 18 months of management experience or a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience, including training other school professionals to improve achievement.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting student achievement through instructional, administrative or programmatic means.
