Planning for college is central to AMS II life. Beginning in 9th grade, our college counselors work closely with families to track scholar progress and support their needs.
Our school offers core courses -- including math, science, social studies, English, art, and physical education -- for all students. We offer AP and college-level courses in the 11th and 12th grades. A focus on writing in every area builds expressive skills and the ability to clearly communicate ideas and opinions.
AMS II scholars learn by doing. Real-world challenges help scholars to master core knowledge. These projects prepare students to be global citizens, presenting and defending their work to a range of audiences.
With additional learning time each day and Summer Bridge program in the 9th and 10th grades, scholars deepen their understanding in each subject. Our trimester schedule offers more opportunities to earn credits towards graduation.
We connect scholars to resources in the Bronx and beyond, including internships, guest speakers and community-based projects. Our scholars are a resource to the community.
Family involvement is central to the AMS II community. Our families are key to student life and success. Collaboration between AMS II and families is integral in helping our students excel. Throughout the year we have multiple school- and community-wide events in which parents are always invited to participate.
