AMS II is a place near and dear to my heart. We are a family who supports each other and our scholars to reach their full potential. Without AMS II, I wouldn't be the teacher I am today.
-Mr. Fernandez

- Farida Adinda
"Since the day I joined AMS II, the continued support is the one thing I can always count on. Working alongside the Operations Team has shown me patience and strengthened my ability to communicate effectively and efficiently. This space has also motivated me to be a better individual overall. I thank AMS II for supporting me wholeheartedly over these last 3 years of my employment. I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to work with such an innovative team, looking forward to what's to come!"
-Ms. Campbell
"Last school year was great. I got a chance to represent the school as a Student Ambassador and actually participate and interact with more of the school community. Also, I wasn’t as stressed as I thought I’d be because of fully being in person and not virtual."
- Aramata Trawalley
"I have the great fortune to be hired by a school whose leaders have high expectations, not only for their staff but also of themselves. I work with terrific people who pull together to exceed those expectations to give the best education to our scholars on a daily. Everyone here has something amazing to offer. AMS II has a reputation that is laudable and it makes me so proud to be part of it."
-Ms. Perez
Planning for college is central to AMS II life. Beginning in 9th grade, our college counselors work closely with families to track scholar progress and support their needs.
Our school offers core courses -- including Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Art, and Physical education -- for all students. We offer AP and college-level courses beginning in 10th grade. A focus on writing in every area builds expressive skills and the ability to clearly communicate ideas and opinions.
AMS II scholars learn by doing. Real-world challenges help scholars to master core knowledge. These projects prepare students to be global citizens, presenting and defending their work to a range of audiences.
We offer a wide range of Multi Language Learner services including co-taught classes, a language support class and 1:1 and small group support and tutoring when needed. Our English Language teachers work with their co-teachers to make sure that lessons are differentiated and that language skills are being developed and strengthened within the content lesson and objectives.
With additional learning time each day and Summer Bridge program in the 9th and 10th grades, scholars deepen their understanding in each subject. Our trimester schedule offers more opportunities to earn credits towards graduation.
We connect scholars to resources in the Bronx and beyond, including internships, guest speakers and community-based projects. Our scholars are a resource to the community.
Family involvement is central to the AMS II community. Our families are key to student life and success. Collaboration between AMS II and families is integral in helping our students excel. Throughout the year we have multiple school- and community-wide events in which parents are always invited to participate.
