Recording Entertainment Technology

Program Overview

Students in the Recording Entertainment Technology program learn and apply technical knowledge and skills to the production of sound and video recordings either as finished products or as components of compilations and production (broadcast, live and mixed media). Students receive broad-based training in music and video recording and mixing, sound and video equipment operations and system maintenance using state-of-the-art industry-standard applications and platforms.Through our CTE course sequence and internships, students will master and apply the principles of acoustics, lighting, music, dialogue, as well as sound and video effects to project based hands-on activities.

All activities are designed to culminate in the production of commercial audio video content allowing students to develop a variety of industry relevant skills including:

          - Soundtrack and Video Editing

          - Dubbing, Mixing and Digital Recording

          - Amplification and Modulation

As students journey through our four-year comprehensive program, they are engaged in authentic hands-on multimedia projects while learning course and technology specific skills.

Every course in the sequence has a specific concentration, and in each course, students will use various technologies to reinforce the concentration-specific skills. Students will be developing and deepening skills using Avid Pro Tools and Adobe Premiere (Culminating industry certification). Students will receive broad-based training in music and video recording and mixing, sound and video equipment operation and maintenance.

Students will also learn how to use basic equipment such as microphones, DSLR cameras, professional camcorders and video cameras, lenses, speakers, amplifiers and equalizers; sound and hearing; lighting, music, dialogue, and sound and video effects; sound track editing, video editing; dubbing; sound engineering; graphic design and advertising, digital imaging; disk, and CD/DVD/Blu-Ray production; digital recording and transmission; amplification and modulation; commercial production, audio for video and television, and Internet video and audio.
