What do you do ?
I am the 11th Grade Dean here at AMS 2. Also Head Coach for both JV and Varsity Boys Basketball Teams.

Why do you work in Education ?
Working in Education offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others. I also work in Education so I can be that role model figure in the building that students know genuinely care about them and their well being .I also feel like working in the education field plays a crucial role in shaping the future of society by educating the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators.

What do you love about AMS 2 ?
AMS 2 has welcomed me with open arms from my very first day here in the building . The one thing I LOVE most about AMS2 is the unconditional support that's given to EVERY staff member in the building. No matter what the situation is , there Is always one person that you can go to for support if needed. Knowing that people have your back even when you DON'T need it adds that extra motivation drive needed to make sure I stay on my A GAME at all times.

3 Things people may not know about you ?
1 - I am a SUPER picky eater
2 -  I spent some time Dj’n over the pandemic, still do but not as often as I would like .
3 - I volunteer a few times throughout the year at local food banks. I also go back to my old job  at Horizon Juvenile Facility and speak to some of the residents to give them a sign of hope and motivation .

What are your hobbies outside of school ?
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family, watching the FoodNetwork and ESPN, shopping , and anything basketball related. Traveling is also a big hobby of mine.

What are some highlights of yours since starting at AMS ll ?
A major highlight for me would be this year coaching JV Boys Basketball . Coaching a group of student athletes that at the beginning of the season didn’t even know one another’s name; to making it to League Championships . But most importantly all buying into the programs MAIN focus on being a STUDENT first and athlete second. Having 9 out of 11 of our boys making Honor Roll however, was a bigger accomplishment than making it to the championship game. I was so proud of them !

What has been one of your favorite personal grows?
Becoming more confident in the work I do with the youth and Improving my productivity the more I continue to remain a sponge by learning how to do my job better daily. I was very quiet and reserved when I started for many reasons but being able to build relationships and finding supportive co-workers has also shown me how to handle stressful situations a lot easier.

What are your hopes for the students?
To never be discouraged, never feel as though their goals can’t be accomplished, that even when something difficult crosses their paths to continue to be motivated and remember to ONLY stress about the things they can control !!
If students could take away one thing from you, what would it be?
To remain calm throughout difficult situations, be genuine in everything you do , and understanding that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE as long as you have a #PushThrough mindset !
