This past weekend, we suffered a great loss that hit hard with our students, families and our nation. Kobe Bryant was an inspiring player that a lot of our students idolized. Like many of us, the Mamba had his ups and downs, making him very relatable. Unfortunately, we lost this basketball legend much sooner than expected, along with his daughter Gianna and 7 others. Some of our teachers at AMS II took the opportunity to turn this tragedy into a teachable moment. Our students had open discussions, participated in moments of silence and also wrote letters of thanks to the fallen legend. We thank our teachers for taking the time out of their lesson plans to address the topic on the minds of so many young people.
