Key features

The Portal by New Visions is designed to support individuals working across schools, districts, and other organizations serving students and their families. Features are developed through deep partnerships with practitioners to meet the authentic challenges they face in their day-to-day work. 

As schools struggle post-Covid to address increased challenges with student attendance, they need more powerful tools than ever to support their work. The Portal lets users see student attendance for individuals and groups of students in ways that illuminate key patterns, surface support needs, inform conversations and allow school and district users to understand what is working.

Why we built
the Portal

Schools are organizationally complex in ways that are poorly understood by technology companies. Software can support student success if it thoughtfully consolidates information, is customizable to account for school variation, authentically reflects the workflow of educators, and enables collaboration between schools and non-school partners. The Portal was built to address critical gaps in the marketplace which relegated schools, districts, and social service providers to using inadequate tools.

student data

For more than 35 years, New Visions has built a reputation as one of the most trusted non-profit partners to New York City Public Schools and other school districts. As a technology provider, we take seriously our responsibility to protect student data and our security practices and technology meet the highest industry standards. This commitment is reinforced by our SOC 2 Type II attestation, which affirms through independent audit that our controls are designed and operating effectively. As a non-profit organization, our partners can trust that we will never sell or otherwise monetize the data associated with public school students and their families.

In NYC, over 40,000 children are living in shelters run by the Division of Homeless Services. These students face some of the greatest obstacles to success in school. In 2020, New Visions worked with NYC to leverage the Portal so professionals working in shelters could access real-time student data for the first time. New Visions is continuing to build features that better support the coordination between school and shelter staff.
