New Visions provides assessments, data analysis tools, and professional learning to support schools and districts with understanding student progress towards success on end-of-course Regents exams.
When adopting new curricula, it can be challenging to figure out how student learning will map to the end-of-course exams.
Well-designed interim assessments allow teachers to focus on excellent instruction.
This year, we are revising or creating multi-unit interim assessments, along with analysis tools for each assessment, in Algebra I, Biology, and Earth & Space Science. These assessments are aligned to the pacing guides for citywide instructional materials — Illustrative Mathematics for Algebra I, New Visions Science for Biology and Earth & Space Science. They are also aligned with NYS Learning Standards and NYS Regents examinations.
Note: Since Regents exams in Biology and Earth & Space Science will be new this June, New Visions has used NY state sample items to design interim assessments that we intend to be similar to the upcoming June exam. These are available to any schools interested in piloting the assessments.
Program Features
Anyone using Illustrative Mathematics Algebra I, New Visions Biology, or New Visions Earth & Space Science may request access to interim assessments. Access includes the following:

- Timely data, aligned to the pacing calendar for high school courses — Algebra 1, Biology, and Earth & Space Science
In addition, for our Affinity schools, we will provide a three-session professional learning series for assessment leads on the following topics:
- Supporting students in preparation for year-end high-stakes assessments (Regents exams)
- Designing coherent assessment systems
- Understanding the data different assessments
- Using assessment data formatively
Impact
In SY 2023-24, over 100 NYC schools used one or both interim assessments in Algebra 1 and/or Living Environment.
