Our Mission

For more than 20 years, New Visions has worked with school leaders, teachers, parents and community organizations to improve the quality of education children receive throughout New York City. This work has resulted in the creation of 135 small schools that serve tens of thousands of public school students.

New Visions Charter High Schools were developed based on the lessons learned through the establishment and support of district schools. With the flexibility to innovate curriculum, resources and assessments under charter law, our charter high schools are designed to provide all students with a relevant and meaningful education that prepares them for the rigors of college and beyond.

Core Values

To ensure student success, New Visions Charter High Schools feature:

  • CHALLENGE-BASED APPROACH TO LEARNING that engages students and requires them to work together to present solutions to real-world problems.
  • A FOCUS ON WRITING in every class to develop the literacy skills necessary for college success.
  • A longer school day, Saturday classes, and a Summer Bridge program that gives students EXTRA TIME TO SUCCEED.
  • SPECIALIZATION and access to Advanced Placement and college level courses in the 11th and 12th grades.
  • PERSONALIZATION - each student is assigned to a teacher or staff member who will serve as a mentor and counselor throughout his/her high school career.
  • A COLLABORATIVE CULTURE that allows teachers and staff to build strong relationships with students and families.
  • A NETWORK OF COMMUNITY PARTNERS that provide opportunties for students to be active in their community.
