Who We’re Looking For

Throughout our history, we have worked intensively with a core group of schools while fashioning strategies to improve student achievement across the board. The team at New Visions for Public Schools is made up of staff with experience as teachers, principals and superintendents, bringing first-hand knowledge of New York City’s public schools to our work helping to raise student achievement. Other staff bring expertise in education policy, teacher preparation, data systems, digital technology, community relations, fundraising and nonprofit operations.  

New Visions is looking for team members that will bring their skills, experience, and energy to a collaborative and innovative learning environment.  We want to connect with potential colleagues that  are reflective, seek and apply feedback effectively, make informed decisions based on data, and work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals.  Successful referrals will have a passion for education and embody our core values.

Eligibility Requirements

Our External Referral Program awards a $1,500 bonus for a successfully hired Special Education Teacher and $500 for all other successfully hired referrals! Bonuses will be awarded only after the hire has successfully completed 6 months of employment at New Visions.

Policy and Eligibility Guidelines:

• You must be 18 years or older to receive a referral bonus.
• Referral bonuses are awarded for full-time positions within the New Visions Central Office or within a New Visions Charter High School.
• Referred candidates cannot be prior or current employees of any New Visions school or the central office.
• If more than one person refers a candidate, a referral bonus will be awarded to the first-in-time referral, as denoted by date/time of filing of the submission.
• A candidate that has been in touch with our Talent Acquisition Team within the last 12 months is not eligible for referral.
• There is no limit to the number of referral bonuses that an eligible individual may receive.
• Referrals are considered eligible for the referral bonus for up to one year after the submission date. After that, they must be resubmitted in order to become eligible again.

The following individuals are NOT eligible for a referral bonus:

• University relations staff and related partnerships
• Recruiting / staffing agencies

This External Referral Award Program is offered to individuals who are not employed with New Visions for Public Schools or New Visions Charter High Schools. Current employees should continue to submit referrals through the Employee Referral Program.

How to Submit a Referral

To successfully refer a candidate and be eligible for an award, all you have to do is complete the referral form at the top right of this page. You’ll be asked to provide contact information for your referral and why you think they would be a great addition to New Visions. Once we receive your form, we’ll connect with your referral and invite them to submit a formal application. It’s that simple!Getting Your Reward

Payment Terms:
If you are eligible to participate in the Program, New Visions shall pay you a one-time external referral payment if the referred employee:

• Acknowledges he or she was referred by you
• Completes 6 months of continuous, active employment with New Visions
• Is still employed by New Visions at the time the external referral bonus is to be paid

You must complete and return an IRS Form W-9 (and any other documentation that New Visions may require) to the Talent Acquisition Team in order to receive the referral bonus. This form will be supplied to you by New Visions once your referred candidate has started employment with us. Failure to submit this document by the designated deadline will result in a forfeiture of the external referral award. New Visions will process the external referral bonus in approximately 30 days after the referred employee completes the 6 months of employment mentioned above, and you have submitted the required paperwork and contact information.

Payments will be made by company check from New Visions. In accordance with IRS guidelines, the referee will receive a 1099 for the year payment was received.
