Joseph Posner

Chief Human Resources Officer

Joe joined New Visions for Public Schools (NVPS) in 2013, leading all Human Resources functions. With over 20 years of non-profit HR experience, Joe is dedicated to attracting, engaging, and retaining top talent through innovative systems, supports, and experiences. For over a decade, he led HR for both NVPS and New Visions Charter High Schools (NVCHS). Following NVCHS’s spin-off to become United Charter High Schools (UCHS), he and his team transitioned to serving as the outsourced HRO for UCHS, while continuing to lead HR for NVPS. His work also includes teacher hiring support for New Visions Affinity network partner schools. Prior to New Visions, he led HR at the Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation and held progressive leadership roles at Safe Horizon. He began his HR career at a global software company, later teaching ESL in Japan. Following 9/11, he returned to NYC to focus on the non-profit sector. Joe holds a master’s in forensic psychology from John Jay College and a bachelor’s in psychology and philosophy from Binghamton University. He has attained SPHR and SCP certifications and is a licensed trainer. An avid martial artist, he dedicated over 20 years to teaching Shotokan Karate with the Police Activity League, mentoring youth and giving back to the community.
